Join us for an open and engaging discussion on the importance of acknowledging and celebrating cultural holidays in the workplace. This candid conversation will explore how recognizing diverse cultural, religious, and national holidays fosters inclusion, respect, and belonging. We encourage everyone to come openly and share freely as we discuss best practices for inclusive holiday celebrations, share personal stories from employees, and provide insights into how we can create a workplace culture that honors everyone’s traditions. Whether you're curious about how to celebrate or want to share your experiences, this event is the perfect platform to learn and grow together.

Presenter: Charity Nicolas, MPH
Charity Nicolas is a Principal Consultant and Safety Engineer at ERM, the world’s largest advisory firm focused on sustainability and serving the world’s top performing companies.
In her role, she pursues her mission of saving lives by preventing injuries to employee populations, especially communities of color, working in labor industries such as building construction, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and technology (including 3D printing, robotics, nanotechnology, computers, drones, and driverless cars).
Throughout her 30-year career, she has challenged the status quo, as she rose up the ranks from intern to Executive Director roles in her field. She was often the only woman and person of color in the room, and paved the way for more people of diverse backgrounds to follow.
She is vocal in her company, ensuring that diverse and marginalized communities have a voice. She supported the development of the ERM BIPOC employee resource group (ERG), embRACE, after the 2020 George Floyd riots. She leads the Asian Peer Coaching Group, encouraging discussions on topics such as microaggressions, allyship, unconscious bias, psychological safety, as well as diversity recruitment, retention, and career growth.
She currently serves as a leader in the Bay Area community as a Board Member for FASTER, and Founder of Tech In Color, connecting BIPOC college students to professionals of color, for mentorship and career advice. She is also President of the ASSP San Francisco Women in Safety Excellence group, which supports women in Safety careers. In 2021, she was awarded by FWN as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Filipinas of the World. She is an avid public speaker, passionately sharing her knowledge about Safety and DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) topics. Her hope is to inspire more professionals to fight for equal rights and DEIB in their communities and work spaces.
Above all, Charity is proud of her four amazing children, including a Golden State Warriors dancer, a UC Berkeley architecture major, a high school basketball point guard, and an experienced Lego set builder. They inspire her to build a better future for them.
